Randy
Lyon is President of Xentury City Development Company. The company
is privately held and owns for master development a 500-plus-acre
mixed-use urban commercial project in central Florida’s Osceola
County, best identified today as the site of the 1,406-room Gaylord
Palms Resort and Convention Center/Florida.
Mr. Lyon has overseen the development and/or operation of major
resort and residential projects around the world. Internationally,
he is a respected advisor on master planned communities, both
urban-mixed use and greenfields. Locally, he has overseen DRIs that
include 20,000 residential units and millions of square feet of
commercial, industrial, retail and office space. Mr. Lyon has been
named a “Pillar of the Community” by the Regional Realtors
Association and a “Champion of Sustainability.” The Governor of
Hawaii has recognized him for leadership in both organic farming and
affordable housing.
He has served as a District Council Chair for the Urban Land
Institute and now serves as a District Council Counselor and
national champion for statewide partnerships. Mr. Lyon headed a
public-private partnership in education that won the ULI’s
prestigious Award of Excellence and an Associated Builders and
Contractor’s “Golden Eagle” national award. The NorthLake Park
Community School has served as a national model and hosted numerous
interested guests, visitors and fans of the model – including
President George W. Bush.
Among many civic contributions, Mr. Lyon is the volunteer chairman
of myregion.org, serving seven counties, 85 cities and over three
million central Florida residents. He served for a decade on the
Regional Chamber’s Executive Board. He has served on the Florida Bar
Ethics Committee and, most recently, on the Blue Ribbon Panel on
Education for Orange County. |
