In river miles, the longest river in this study is the St. Johns River, with its 491 miles representing just under 15% of the total river miles in this study. The rivers of the central and southern Florida peninsula (excluding the St. Johns River basin) accounted for 980.4 river miles of this study, just under 30%. The rivers associated with the St. Johns River and the northeastern portion of Florida such as the Nassau and St. Marys comprised 892.7 river miles or just over 27% of the total river mileage. The remaining river miles (1427.2 miles or 43% of the total) were from rivers in the Florida Panhandle.
