Dress Code and Demeanor for Teen Court
Dress Code
Please adhere to the following rules or you will not be given credit for attending the Tuesday night sessions:
- No Cell Phones/Pagers
- No Shorts
- No Hats/Wraps/Bandannas/Sweat or Head bands
- No short or tight skirts (to be on the safe side—wear pants)
- No tank tops/tube tops/halter tops
- No shirts that expose your mid-drift or stomach
- No cut off shirts (shirts must be able to be tucked in)
- No low cut or “revealing” tops
- No flip flops
The first time you are in violation of the dress code you will be given a warning. Anytime thereafter you will lose credit for that evening.
For this case, when in doubt → do not wear it!
Remember that even a small flaw in your appearance will be noticed by someone on the jury and it may hurt your credibility
Courtroom Demeanor
- Have nothing on you person that jingles
- Never chew gum or have related substances in your mouth
- Avoid putting your head down, slouching in your chair, and crossing your hands and legs at the table.
- Be polite to the counsel.
- Don’t overly react while sitting at the table.
- Show respect to the courtroom officials especially the judge.
- Always stand to address the judge.
- Use respectable titles Mr., Mrs., Miss and always use last names.
Remember, someone is always watching you and you can never get a second chance to make a first impression
