The Leon County Board of County Commissioners has
dedicated funding toward converting sections of the Solid Waste
Landfill Facility located at 7550 Apalachee Pkwy. into a regional
park. Complete conversion is several years away due to ongoing
Landfill activities, however, the County will be moving in that
direction in phases. The first phase is to construct multi-purpose
recreation fields at the front west corner of the property. A
citizens’ advisory committee will be established in the near
future to review input and make recommendations on additional
phases, final utilization and conversion of the available land.
