Tech/ Media Department Collection

The Tech/ Media Department is located on the first floor of the Main Library. We house materials in a variety of formats including audio-spoken word, videos, audio-music, and CD-ROMs.

Audio-Spoken Word
This format is available on cassette, CD, and MP3s both in abridged and unabridged versions. We have biographies, fiction and non-fiction titles. Fiction titles are shelved alphabetically by the author’s last name and non-fiction titles are shelved by Dewey Decimal call numbers. The limit of checkouts for each format is 6 items for a period of 3 weeks.

Video and DVD
Our VHS video collection includes popular movies, classics, and a selection of instructional and other non-fiction videos. The library’s DVD collection was developed with the help of a generous donation of the Friends of the Library. Our collection includes classic and current movies, foreign films, and a great selection of non-fiction videos. Feature films are shelved alphabetically by title and non-fiction titles are shelved by Dewey Decimal call numbers. The limit of checkouts for each format is 6 items for a period of 1 week.

CD-Music
The media collection also features music CDs in a wide variety of musical styles, such as opera, pop, country, rap, classical, instrumental, and much more. Please view our CD Shelf Guide for the music CD call numbers. We also house a special collection of music from Tallahassee artists, Tallahassee Makes Music, only available at our library. The limit of checkouts for each format is 6 items for a period of 3 weeks.

CD-ROM
Our CD-ROM collection includes educational and recreational titles. The limit of checkouts for CD-ROMs is 6 items for a period of 3 weeks

Equipment Use

Groups meeting in any of the library’s program rooms may use our equipment. Equipment available for use in the library:

• TV with VCR/DVD player

• Overhead projector with screen

• Opaque projector with screen

• Slide projector with screen

• Braille Typewriter
