SCHOOL HEALTH
 

Our mission is to support learning by keeping all Leon County school children healthy and safe. We do this by teaching healthy behaviors, observing and evaluating potential health problems, and working with parents, doctors, and schools to champion children's health. Through our oversight and supervision of the School Health Rooms, we foster the child's well-being.

OUR SERVICES
 

• Assist and educate children on managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, allergies, epilepsy, and asthma.
• Train school staff on what to do to provide immediate assistance to children in health emergencies
• Conduct screenings (mandated by Florida Statutes) for health concerns that may hinder learning (such as vision and hearing)
• Identify and assess student health concerns
• Teach health education classes such as growth development, personal hygiene, hand-washing, nutrition, and sun safety
