The Summer Youth Training Program (SYTP) is designed to prepare young people for the world of work. This program only serves individuals between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age residing in Leon County who want to use their summer vacation to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in a workplace environment. This program provides youth with an opportunity to earn money while gaining valuable work experience, skills-oriented training and career exposure. Summer youth applicants are able to choose from a variety of Leon County Divisions which include the Leon County Commissioners Offices, Library Services, Emergency Medical Services, Management Information Systems, Parks & Recreation and several others. These positions will require individuals to perform tasks such as:

Clerical duties ( filing, typing,
copying, enter data, answering phones).

Maintaining ball fields and parks
grounds.

Helping to stock emergency vehicles.

Showing others how to use the
Internet.

Cataloging and shelving books.

Maintaining warehouse shelves.
This year we are advertising fifty-seven (57) SYTP positions.
This is a six week program that will last from Monday, June 13, 2011 until Thursday, July 21, 2011. All positions will require youth to commit between 20 and 25 hours per week of their time. Each youth worker will be paid a set salary of $7.25 per hour. Please use the link below to explore the SYTP 2011 positions.

The Eligibility Requirements for the SYTP:

Be between 14 to 21 years of age.

Live in Leon County.

Fully committed and motivated to the program and the
position requirements

Completed application, which must be submitted by
5:00:00 PM Friday, May 06, 2011.
Applications will be accepted from Monday, April 11, 2011 at 8:00:00 AM
to Friday, May 06, 2011 at 5:00:00 PM.
All persons recommended for hire will be
required to pass a drug test. Person under 18 will be required to
submit a Drug
Testing Approval form once hired. Also, a criminal
background check will be conducted for persons 18 years of age and older who
are being considered for hire.
