CareNet - Healthcare options for Leon county's uninsured residents

Leon County citizens who do not have health insurance do not have to go without the medical care that they need. CareNet is a public/private partnership —not a health insurance plan—for primary healthcare delivery, designed to serve the healthcare needs of uninsured Leon County residents. Bond Community Health Center and Neighborhood Health Services offer primary healthcare with a sliding fee discount based upon verification of income and residency. Other partners in the CareNet collaborative include the We Care Network, the FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the local hospitals and the Leon County Health Department.

*These clinics deliver primary healthcare, as well as specialty care services to uninsured Leon County residents. 

Bond Community Health Center accepts Medicaid/Medicare and private insurance. The clinics provide healthcare on a sliding discount with verification of income. Please bring proof of your insurance or documentation of your income to your appointment. Walk-ins are welcomed.

  • Prenatal/pregnancy care and family planning

  • Pediatric and adolescent care

  • Adult/geriatric care

  • Gynecological care and STD screenings

  • HIV Testing/Treatment

  • Nutritional clinic 

  • Podiatry

  • Physical Therapy

  • Optometry

Neighborhood Health Services (NHS) is a community health center dedicated to providing Leon County residents and the surrounding counties with high-quality comprehensive primary healthcare. Free or reduced healthcare is provided for eligible Leon County patients based on verification of income. Space is limited, please call in advance. 

Neighborhood Health Services offers the following services:

  • In-Site Pharmacy and Prescription Assistance

  • Eye Care Screening Program

  • Mental Health Clinic

  • Orthopedic Clinic

We Care Network

The We Care Network provides free, donated specialty medical care for patients referred by their primary care physicians. Patients cannot carry any insurance or qualify for any other government program. Patients must meet income guidelines and is required to be a resident of the counties served.

The FAMU pharmacy provides pharmaceuticals to eligible patients with written prescriptions from Bond Community Health Center. Medications are priced on a sliding scale based on the patient's ability to pay. (Income verification must be provided to Bond Community Health Center.) The Pharmacy is a community service provided by the FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Florida State University College of Medicine supplies volunteer physicians to provide primary healthcare to the medically underserved in our community.
