When does my mail ballot need to be voted and returned?

There are two rules governing this question. One deals with regular, in-country mail ballots.

Florida Statute 101.6103 - Mail ballot election procedure:

    (2) Upon receipt of the ballot the elector shall mark the ballot, place it in the secrecy envelope, sign the return mailing envelope supplied with the ballot, and comply with the instructions provided with the ballot. The elector shall mail, deliver, or have delivered the marked ballot so that it reaches the supervisor of elections no later than 7 p.m. on the day of the election. The ballot must be returned in the return mailing envelope.

The other deals directly with Overseas Mail Ballots.

Division of Elections Rule 1S-2.013 - Mail Ballots to Overseas Electors:

    (7) With respect to the presidential preference primary and the general election, any mail ballot cast for a federal office by an overseas elector which is postmarked or signed and dated no later than the date of the Federal election shall be counted if received no later than 10 days from the date of the Federal election as long as such mail ballot is otherwise proper.

Can I vote before Election Day?

Any registered voter who is eligible to vote in a specific election is welcome to vote early at our four Early Voting Sites (see Early Voting Sites) or on election day at the Leon County Courthouse, first floor Plaza.

What is Yearly Mail Ballot Status?

Any Leon County registered voter can request to be a yearly mail voter. Voters who are listed as yearly mail ballot voters will automatically be mailed a list of the upcoming elections each election year. They simply select the elections for which they want to receive mail ballots and return this form to our office. These voters will then receive a mail ballot for every election they selected. To become a yearly mail ballot voter, simply inform a staff member of your desire when you next request a mail ballot, or contact our office.
