Workforce Plus

Responsibility:
- The purpose of Workforce Plus is to provide for enhanced coordination, cooperation, collaboration, and outcomes, by and between several entities, both public and private, which are involved at the local level in providing youth and adults with opportunities to develop and continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills in order to advance economically and socially throughout their lifetime, and in providing employers with the skilled workforce necessary to be competitive in local, state, national, and/or international markets.

1. Develop the region's strategic workforce development plan;
2. Establish and evaluate performance standards and measures for programs in this region;
3. Contract with public and private entities as necessary to carry out the programs;
4. Identify occupations for which there is a demand in the area served and selecting training institutions that may provide training, in accordance with procurement guidelines and procedures;
5. Select a One-Stop Operator, an administrative entity, and a fiscal agent;
6. Approve an annual budget;
7. Solicit the input and participation of the local business community in the provision of services for the residents of the region;
8. Provide policy guidance and procedures for programs established by Workforce Plus
9. Report to appropriate state agencies and providing an annual report;
10. Select subrecipients, in accordance with procurement guidelines and procedures;
11. Prioritize of certain support services;
12. Provide oversight and monitoring activities.

Appointments:
8 - appointed by BCC - private sector representatives

A majority of Workforce Plus shall be representative of the private sector, who shall be owners of business concerns, executives, or chief operating officers of non-governmental employers, or other private sector executives who have substantial management or policy responsibility.

New appointments to Workforce Plus are required to be nominated through recommendation of the Tallahassee-Leon County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council (EDC).

 

Terms:
Initial terms are 2 and 3 years. All terms thereafter are 3-year terms.
Terms expire June 30. Vacancies are filled for the remainder of an unexpired term.
