Network and technical services
consists of three teams who provide support and
security of networked systems residing on Leon County's wide area and
local area network. The Systems team provides administration of NT,
Novell, VMS, and AIX/Unix-based servers providing county-wide file,
application, and print server functionality and electronic mail. The
Communications team creates and supports the complex data network
WAN/MAN/LAN infrastructure including voice and data which expands into
four surrounding counties. Support Services consists of a team of
technicians that supports over 1500 desktop units through Technical
Service Center and
on-site assistance, county-wide asset management of computer &
peripheral equipment, and an on-site computer training facility.
Applications and Databases
Supports and maintains the application software and databases
for the Criminal Justice Information System, the Public Library, Finance/Payroll,
Electronic Document Management, and Work Order Management Systems. Also responsible for
feasibility studies, systems analysis, applications development and maintenance for County
Departments and Agencies as needed.
Tallahassee-Leon County GIS
Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation
of the joint Tallahassee-Leon County GIS enterprise database. Maintains the base map with
five year aerial photogram metric mapping projects as well as in-house updates from
permitting data. Maintains a website to distribute digital and hard copy output for easy
internal and public access to GIS data. Develops new data layers, writes programs to
manipulate data, and analyzes spatial data. Serves as a technical resource to City/County
