The County Attorney is appointed by the Board of County
Commissioners
and is directly responsible to the Board.
The
Leon County Charter provides that the office of County Attorney
shall be responsible for the representation of county government,
the board of county commissioners and all departments, divisions,
regulatory boards and advisory boards of county government in all
legal matters relating to their official responsibilities. The
office of County Attorney shall also review all ordinances,
resolutions, contracts, bonds and other written instruments. The County Attorney
is not authorized to provide civil legal advice to private citizens
in his capacity as County Attorney. For links to Legal

Our Mission
The mission of the County Attorney’s Office is to provide high
quality, timely, professional, cost effective legal representation to the Board of County
Commissioners, and other officials of Leon County
as directed by the Board of County Commissioners.
