Expected Completion: September 2007
The residents of Woodville now
have a new community center in which to hold their Senior Days, fitness
classes, homeowners’ meetings, Boys and Girls Club, Scout meetings, Pop
Warner meeting, and much more. Community members were involved with this
project since its inception. At a town hall
meeting, citizens voiced what they would like in their center. The
County listened carefully and gave the residents more space and
additional features as requested. The official groundbreaking ceremony
was held on Jan.11 and the center was opened just nine months later on
Oct. 25, 2007. The
community center is located at 8000 Old Woodville Road, between
Woodville Highway and the St. Marks Trail.
The Center includes two meeting rooms with a capacity of 26, one
computer lab which can double as a meeting room, and one large meeting
room with a capacity of 124. The large room also has a dividing
screen so it can be used as two, separate smaller meeting rooms. Leon
County Parks and Recreation oversees upkeep and maintenance.
