WHEREAS, For over twenty years, the Florida Association
for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas has
worked for the improvement of economic and social conditions
in the Caribbean and Central America through volunteer
service; and
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Corps relies on American citizens
to share their professional expertise with citizens of
Caribbean and American nations less fortunate than ours; and
WHEREAS, Leon County Emergency Medical Services Paramedic
and Field Training Officer Scott Barry, working as a
volunteer with the Florida Association for Volunteer Action
in the Caribbean and the Americas, trained more than fifty
people in CPR/First Aid/AED in Lower Bay, Bequia, teaching
our neighbors in that Caribbean Island nation to help
themselves as they serve and help others; and
WHEREAS, Sgt. Barry’s selfless volunteer efforts in Lower
Bay, Bequia reflects the tremendous spirit of generosity,
caring and altruism of Leon County citizens and employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS of LEON COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Leon County
Emergency Medical Services Paramedic and Field Training
Officer
SCOTT BARRY
be recognized for distinguished
humanitarian service, and is hereby bestowed with the
honorary title of Leon County GOODWILL AMBASSADOR At-Large.
Through his service and sacrifice, Sgt. Barry honors all
Leon County Citizens. The Board therefore recognizes in Sgt.
Barry the very best of Leon County, and do therefore commend
him, and all Leon County employees and citizens, who
volunteer at home and abroad in the service of mankind.
