WHEREAS, the profession of Landscape Architecture
significantly enhances the quality of life enjoyed by
residents of Leon County; and
WHEREAS, Landscape Architects, through careful planning,
design, and stewardship of land and water resources, help to
preserve the quality and ecological viability of our natural
heritage; and
WHEREAS, the profession of Landscape Architecture
enhances built environments through the creation of safe,
functional, accessible, secure and aesthetically gratifying
public and private places; and
WHEREAS, the profession of Landscape Architecture
promotes economically and ecologically sustainable
development of land and water resources for our present
enjoyment, while ensuring that future generations enjoy the
same benefits that we depend on for the commerce and
conservation needs of today; and
WHEREAS, excellence in the Landscape Architecture
profession is promoted through the Florida A&M University
Landscape Architecture Graduate Degree Program, which helps
to prepare degree candidates for the professional licensure
requirements of the State Board of Landscape Architecture.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS of LEON COUNTY, FLORIDA that the third week of
April, 2005, is hereby designated as
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE WEEK
in Leon County. The Board recognizes the
essential contributions made by Landscape Architects to our
community’s quality of life through analysis, planning,
design, management, and stewardship of natural and built
environments, in a broad and diverse spectrum of works, and
commends the profession and it’s practitioners for their
skill, creativity, and service to the people of Leon County.
