WHEREAS, the People of Leon County are protected and
served by several overlapping law enforcement jurisdictions,
including the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, the Tallahassee
Police Department, the Capitol Police, the FAMU and FSU
Police Departments, and others; and
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers undertake the difficult
tasks of maintaining order in our community and protecting
our personal safety, often at the risk of their own personal
safety, and
WHEREAS, each year the Florida Attorney General presents
an "Officer of the Year" award to one of our state’s many
outstanding law enforcement officers to recognize individual
achievement in a profession which demands excellence as a
minimum standard of performance; and
WHEREAS, Tallahassee Police Officer Charles "Chuck" Perry
was recognized by the Attorney General’s Office as Florida's
2004 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, for his bravery
under fire and for his commitment to public service.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County
Commissioners of Leon County, Florida, that Tallahassee
Police Officer
CHUCK PERRY
is hereby named a Leon County OUTSTANDING
CITIZEN. We recognize in Officer Perry the very best of
those values which make our community the very best --
courage, professionalism, impartiality, and selfless
commitment to duty in the public interest. We call on the
citizens of Leon County to recognize in Officer Perry these
qualities which truly inspire us, and to take note of his
leadership by example. We also express our gratitude for his
exemplary service and sacrifice, and through him, do
proclaim our thanks to all the men and women who serve our
community, and our society, in the honorable profession of
law enforcement.
