WHEREAS, John Reineking was a freshman honors student at Lincoln High School in Leon County, Florida, and

WHEREAS, John Reineking was a member in good standing of the Lincoln High School Naval Junior ROTC program, and was a member of the shooting team, the sailing team, and the only freshman member of the armed drill team, and

WHEREAS, John Reineking is remembered as an outstanding young man, who was an asset to his community, and whose untimely loss is still felt by all who knew him, and

WHEREAS, the First Annual John Reineking Memorial 5K Run has been established in his memory, by the Lincoln High School Navy Junior ROTC, to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Tallahassee, Florida, and

WHEREAS, the Leon County Board of County Commissioners joins with the Lincoln High School community and the John Reineking family in support of this day and this event, and the noble purpose for which it was established.

Now, therefore be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Leon County, Florida that March 8, 2003 is hereby proclaimed

in Leon County Florida. We celebrate with all participants the life of Cadet John Reineking, and we hereby bestow our highest honors on the cadets of the Lincoln High School Naval Junior ROTC. As these young men and women look to their future service in the United States Navy, we salute them for the service they render in our community today.
