WHEREAS, the management of information
technology is a crucial function of government in the
information age; and
WHEREAS, access to government
information by citizens is essential to the maintenance of a
healthy democracy; and
WHEREAS, the Leon County Management
Information Systems Department has shown itself to be at the
cutting edge of technology in the information age; and
WHEREAS, The staff of the Leon County
MIS Department have shown themselves to be highly responsive
to requests for service, and have demonstrated great
professionalism, high technical competence, and a strong
work ethic; and
WHEREAS, The Leon County MIS Department
was recently recognized by the National Association of
Counties’ Center for Digital Government as one of the top
county technology operations in the nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF LEON COUNTY, FLORIDA, that
the Leon County Management Information Systems Department is
hereby recognized as an essential government service to the
people of this community. We offer our highest commendation
for their professionalism and strong commitment to customer
service, upon which we have all come so much to depend. We
therefore recognize the staff of Leon County MIS, and their
director Pat Curtis, and do hereby appoint them, each and
all, as our ambassadors to the future. We look to their
leadership and continued good works to keep us abreast of
rapidly changing technology, and to help us realize the
promise of human destiny in the information age, and beyond,
for all of the citizens of Leon County, Florida.
