WHEREAS, Charles Adkins served as an officer of the
Tallahassee Police Department for 27 years, then worked for another 10 years as
a Leon County Sheriff's Department Court Bailiff; and
WHEREAS, George Bishop served as an officer of the
Tallahassee Police Department for 30 years, then worked for another 10 years as
a Leon County Sheriff's Department Court Bailiff, and
WHEREAS, Fred Lehmann began his law enforcement career with
the Tallahassee Police Department, worked for the Florida Department of
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco for 15 years, then as a Leon County Sheriff's
Department Court Bailiff for 26 years, and
WHEREAS, Paula Mahaffey served Leon County as a Custodial
Supervisor and then as a Leon County Sheriff's Department Court Attendant for
13, and
WHEREAS, the public service of these four distinguished
individuals totals over 135 years, and
WHEREAS, these outstanding public servants have announced
their retirement, and that it is impossible to conceive how the business of the
Leon County Courthouse will continue without them:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF LEON COUNTY, FLORIDA, that
CHARLES ADKINS, GEORGE BISHOP,
FRED LEHMANN and PAULA MAHAFFEY
are recognized for their meritorious service to the people of
Tallahassee, Leon County, and Florida's Second Judicial Circuit, and are hereby
appointed as lifetime Goodwill Ambassadors for the People of Leon County, and
that the Government of Leon County is eternally grateful for their professional,
dedicated, and heroic service.
