List of Dangerous or Aggressive Classified Animals Located in Leon County 
Leon County Animal Control receives and investigates dozens
of complaints on animals every year that threaten or harm people or pets. Many
of these cases result in animals being classified dangerous or aggressive. To
review the list of animals classified dangerous or aggressive under Leon County
Ordinance, click on the category below. Individual cases, location of the animal, along with a
picture of the animal may be viewed. If you see one of these animals loose, please phone Leon
County Animal Control at (850) 606-5400 or Leon County Sheriff
Office at (850) 922-3300. A Leon County Animal Control Officer will respond and
investigate the complaint.

Definition of Dangerous
and Aggressive:
Dangerous
animal shall
mean an animal that has, when unprovoked,
- bitten, attacked, or endangered or has inflicted severe
injury on a human being on public or private property; or
- has more than once severely injured or killed a domestic animal while
off the owner’s property; or
- has, when unprovoked, chased or approached a person upon the
streets, sidewalks, or any public grounds in a menacing fashion, or an apparent attitude of
attack,
- provided that such actions as set forth and described in paragraphs
a), b) and c) above are attested to in a
sworn statement by one or more persons and dutifully investigated by the
appropriate authority; or,
- in the case of a dog, has been used primarily or in part for the purpose
of dog fighting or is a dog trained
for dog fighting.
Aggressive
animal shall mean any animal which has injured or killed a
domestic animal in a first unprovoked attack while off of the premises of the
owner.
