LEON COUNTY - Deputy County Administrator

Vince Long is the Deputy County Administrator for Leon County, FL. He has worked for the County since 1995. As Deputy County Administrator, he works very closely with the County Administrator to carry out the Board of County Commissioners’ highest priorities. Vince heads up the core group of professional staff who perform policy analysis, legislative coordination and public relations / public information activities for the County. In addition, he provides day-to-day departmental leadership to: Growth & Environmental Management, Planning Department, Health & Human Services, the Library system, Emergency Medical Services, Tourist Development and Blueprint 2000.

Vince has a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy at Florida State University (FSU) where he has served on the adjunct faculty teaching graduate courses in local government for over a decade. He has also served for many years on the faculty of the Florida Association of Counties' County Commissioner Certification Program. Vince is also a graduate of the Harvard University, JFK School of Government Institute for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. Vince has earned the recognition of “Credentialed Manager” by the International City/County Managers Association (ICCMA). Vince currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida City/County Managers Association (FCCMA) and the North Florida Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA). He has served on numerous special committees to the State Legislature advising on local government and public policy issues affecting the state. Vince currently serves as the appointment of Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink on the Florida Workers Compensation Insurance Guaranty Association Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Town and Gown Advisory Committee.

Vince is a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee and Leadership Florida. He is member of many community organizations, including currently serving on the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Big Bend. Vince and his wife, Julann, have three children, Kellen, Jack and Riley.
