Apply for Neighborhood Recognition

Leon County Government’s Neighborhood Recognition Program celebrates the vibrant neighborhoods and dedicated community leaders that call Leon County home. Awarded annually in partnership with the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA), the program recognizes neighborhoods and neighbors that have gone above and beyond in the last year to help make our community a better place to live, work, and play.

Congratulations to the winners of the 42nd Annual Neighborhood Recognition Program!

  • Small Neighborhood of the Year (200 homes or fewer) – Kinsail Unit One Homeowners Association
Kinsail Unit One prepared their neighborhood for hurricane season by trimming and removing trees before a storm hits to reduce storm damage and keep their neighborhood safe.
  • Large Neighborhood of the Year (more than 200 homes) – Lafayette Oaks Homes Association
Lafayette Oaks has an active social committee that plans neighborhood events to bring the community together and gives back to the wider Leon County community by volunteering for events and programs including the annual Leon County Operation Thank You Veterans Day Breakfast.
  • Unincorporated Neighborhood of the Year (outside the city limits) – Landover Hills Homeowners Association
Landover Hills works together to support one another by collecting donations for the elderly and hosting events to bring everyone together, including a summer kickoff celebration and a holiday party.
  • Neighbor of the Year – Irene Goodner
Irene is a dedicated and caring community member who routinely checks in on her elderly neighbors and walks their dogs. This past year, she organized the first Dellwood Drive Pig Roast to bring the neighborhood together for a day of food, fun, and conversation.

Interested in having your amazing neighbor or neighborhood recognized? Applications for the 2024 Neighborhood Recognition Program will open in May 2024.
